Summary
In today’s world, news has become just another product with a price tag. The media, which should be focused on uncovering the truth, has instead become all about making a profit. Gaining popularity and exposure has taken priority over the core value of authenticity in reporting.
The Truth Behind the Headlines
【Deliberate Choice】
Every piece of news on the newspaper or webside was carefully designed and edited by the maker.
The problem I would like to express and discuss in this project is that the media has lost its supervisory role in journalism.
【When Gossip Becomes News】
The public’s appetite for gossip drives the media to focus on trivial matters, turning insignificant events into sensational headlines. In this piece, I depict a scene of a monkey breastfeeding, with people pretending to be on an intergalactic journey to observe this ordinary moment.
【Counterfeiting Factory 】
The media has become a factory for processing news, where authenticity is often unclear. While not all news is false, readers have no way of knowing the truth, making it little more than a tool for passing time. Much of the news is deliberately manipulated, leaving the audience uncertain, like Schrödinger's cat, about its accuracy.
【Unwitting Co-Creators】
The reality rarely matches the packaged image, yet this fact is widely accepted. No one complains about the gap between what was promised and what was delivered. In this piece, I highlight how the advertised product and the actual one often differ, yet no one questions the advertisement when it arrives in real life.
