Hotpot & Art: A Chinese New Year Celebration

Background

This is an open and inclusive experiential gathering, perfect for everyone—even if you have no prior art experience!

Hotpot is a cherished tradition of Chinese New Year, much like the Thanksgiving turkey in Western cultures. During the festivities, families gather around a steaming hotpot, cooking fresh ingredients and dipping them into specially prepared sauces. Particularly in Northern China, hotpot symbolizes warmth, unity, and celebration of the year’s hard work.

About the Workshop

In this workshop, our instructor will guide you to create a hotpot-inspired artwork using a variety of mediums such as watercolor, collage, oil pastels, pencils, or mixed media. You’ll have the freedom to choose your preferred style and materials. To make it even more memorable, we’ll help you transform your artwork into unique keepsakes like ornaments, greeting cards, and more.

Taste the Tradition

After the creative session, enjoy a delicious hotpot feast! We’ll provide two options: a traditional hotpot and a vegetarian-friendly version, ensuring everyone can partake in this delightful cultural experience.
