In this immersive 2-hour workshop, we invite you to step away from the digital world and connect with the quiet beauty of traditional Chinese aesthetics. You will discover the rich heritage behind Chinese character art, feel the meditative rhythm of traditional tools, and craft your own unique masterpiece to take home.

1. Cultural & Aesthetic Intro
Begin with a warm, interactive mini-session on Chinese character art. Your instructor will introduce the rich story behind traditional calligraphy and seal carving, exploring how ancient symbols evolved over thousands of years into timeless art forms.
2. Character Selection & Design Composition
Select your core motif from three classic auspicious characters, each carrying deep cultural blessings:
Fu (福): Good fortune, happiness, and holistic abundance.
Ji (吉): Good luck, harmony, and smooth fortune.
Chun (春): Springtime, new beginnings, and vibrant life.
Your instructor will guide you through the secret "rules of aesthetics" in Chinese art—focusing on stroke weight, balance, and spatial harmony—to help you draft and tailor your chosen character to perfection.
3. Split into Focused Craft Groups
Once your design is finalized, the session transitions into hands-on crafting! The group will split into two dedicated focus areas based on your chosen experience:
What You'll Do
Group A: The Calligraphy & Lantern Studio
1: Master the Basic Brush Strokes
Get comfortable with the bamboo brush! Guided by your instructor, you will start on traditional grid practice paper to master fundamental brush strokes—learning ink control, pressure, and line fluidity.
2: Compose Your Chosen Character
Move from basic strokes to full characters. Choose your core motif from three auspicious symbols (Fu 福, Ji 吉, or Chun 春)—or challenge yourself to practice all three on draft paper before writing your final piece.
3: Assemble the Lantern Frame
Bring your creation into the 3D world! Select your preferred wooden lantern design and follow step-by-step guidance to assemble the traditional wooden frame securely.
4: Illuminate Your Masterpiece
Write your perfected calligraphy onto specialized floral rice paper, attach it to the wooden frame, and install the warm LED lights. Walk away with a glowing, personalized art piece ready to light up your space!
Group B: The Stone Seal Carving
Step 1: Choose & Polish Your Stone
Every seal stone is unique in grain, texture, and color. Select your favorite stone from our studio collection, then use traditional sandpaper techniques to smooth and polish its surface for the perfect canvas.
Step 2: Transfer Your Chosen Symbol
Choose your motif from three timeless auspicious characters (Fu 福, Ji 吉, or Chun 春), ranging from simple strokes to complex beauty. You will learn to reverse-transfer your chosen design accurately onto the stone surface before carving.
Step 3: Bring the Stone to Life
Master the core carving techniques safely! Your instructor will guide you on proper tool handling, blade angles, and stroke control, using safety grips to ensure a smooth, comfortable, and confident carving process.
Step 4: Refine & Stamping Test
Test-stamp your work repeatedly using traditional vermilion ink paste. You will fine-tune the lines and edges with your tutor until your signature mark is crisp and sharp. Leave with your finished stone seal, ink paste, and elegant gift packaging.
