About This session:

This is a flexible, coaching-style watercolour class designed for:

  • Students who have already taken the beginner watercolour workshop at our studio, or

  • Learners who already have some watercolour experience and are practising on their own.

You’re welcome to bring any project or artwork you’d like to work on: landscapes, buildings, portraits, travel sketches, or reference photos you love — you can develop them further during the session.

If you have specific questions or challenges, such as:

  • How to paint clouds, mist, and layered skies

  • How to simplify buildings without making them look messy

  • How to handle shadows, perspective, and colour layering

you can bring these questions to class, and the tutor will give explanations and demonstrations based on your needs.

If you don’t have a clear project in mind but simply want to consolidate your skills and improve steadily, the tutor will prepare suitable exercises or themes according to your level to help you make solid progress.

The overall atmosphere is like a warm, friendly watercolour club: we gather on weekends to paint, share ideas, and gently build our confidence and rhythm in a relaxed environment.

How This Session Works:

A Shared Space for Creative Growth

Our afternoon session is a mixed-level studio class, welcoming both beginners and more experienced students working on personal projects.

How it works:
Beginners receive the foundational demonstrations and guidance they need to get started, while intermediate and advanced students receive individual coaching, feedback, and critique based on their own goals and questions.

We keep the group intentionally small so the studio remains calm, spacious, and focused. This allows everyone to work at their own level while still receiving personal attention and support.

The atmosphere is closer to a real artist’s studio than a formal class: people work on different things, at different stages, while sharing the same space, energy, and encouragement.

What Do Our Participants Learn?

In our Paint As You Come sessions, each student works at their own pace. Some bring unfinished pieces, some recreate artworks they admire, and others start fresh to explore new techniques.

Common areas of guidance include:

  • ✏️ Improving composition and sketch structure

  • 🖌️ Techniques for colour mixing and contrast control

  • 🖼️ Understanding basic perspective and avoiding common mistakes

  • 🌊 Creating layered textures for water, foliage, and natural elements

  • 🪄 Breaking down online tutorials into practical, step-by-step processes

We aim to create a warm and responsive creative space — no pressure, no fixed pace, but a knowledgeable tutor always nearby. Whether you're here to unwind after work or to build your portfolio, you're welcome to learn in your own way.

🎨 Student Showcase 1:

I love this cosy, art-filled studio. Every Saturday, it offers me a chance to step away from work and fully immerse myself in a calm, creative space.

One of my favourite things is the bookshelf — I often pick a painting from one of Vencho’s many watercolour books to copy, then spend the whole afternoon quietly painting. Being here helps me slow down and reconnect with the joy of making art just for myself.

I started with no experience, and now, after more than a year of painting here, I’ve learned so much. Sometimes I even get to help answer questions from newer students — which feels like a small but meaningful milestone in my own growth.

🎨 Student Showcase 2:

Before joining the beginner watercolour class, I had almost no experience with watercolours and mostly did simple pencil sketches.
After the class, I gained the confidence to start carrying a sketchbook with me and began capturing small scenes during my travels.
Each time I return to the studio, I bring these sketches, note down the challenges I faced, and work through them during the session — often repainting them in watercolour with the tutor’s guidance.

🎨 Student Showcase 3:

I especially enjoy painting small pieces and floral subjects. The studio has such a calm and relaxing atmosphere, and the teacher’s guidance has given me the confidence to try more complex work.

I’ve even set up a little watercolour corner at home now. I love making handmade cards and giving them to my family and friends — it brings me so much quiet joy.

🎨 Student Showcase 4:

I love painting and usually follow short online tutorials after work. But there are always moments when I get stuck — especially with perspective and composition. I’m really glad I found a lightly-guided session like this. It allows me to keep my own pace while having a real teacher around to answer all the tricky questions that online classes just can't solve.

🎨 Student Showcase 5:

I wanted to find a hobby I could stick with long-term, and learning in a real artist studio turned out to be much easier to maintain than trying to do it alone at home. I've been improving quickly, not only learning new skills, but also bringing home a new painting each week to brighten up my space. There are lots of watercolour books here, and I really enjoy imitating them.

What makes me even happier is that this workshop has helped me meet some lovely new friends. We gather every week to paint together, and sometimes order something delicious to share. The painting atmosphere here is just wonderful.
