This course focuses on the key skills behind watercolour illustration — how to turn everyday subjects into a clear, well-designed painting.
We’ll cover:
Planning & composition: choosing a subject, simplifying, and creating a clear focal point
Colour & palette: mixing harmonious colours and avoiding muddy washes
Line and structure: when a light drawing helps, and when to let watercolour do the work
Water control: timing, edges, layering, and keeping your washes clean and transparent
Each session includes a short demonstration, guided practice, and personalised feedback.
-
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
Sketch a subject confidently and build a simple composition
Paint with clean, luminous washes (without colours turning muddy)
Use a limited palette to create a cohesive colour mood
Control edges and layering to add depth and focus
Finish a small set of paintings with a clear method to practise at home
Many students continue painting between sessions — you’re welcome to share your work for feedback as you go.
